It has been almost two years since Korean filmmaker Bong Joon Ho swept the Oscars with the superb satirical social thriller Parasite. He's finally zeroing in on a follow-up and it's already sounding like one to anticipate. The director is in talks to adapt upcoming novel Mickey7 for Warner Bros. and has Robert Pattinson looking to take the lead.

Written by Edward Ashton, the book will be out this spring and follows Mickey7, who is an Expendable: a disposable employee on a human expedition sent to colonize the ice world Niflheim. Whenever there’s a mission that’s too dangerous – even suicidal – the crew turns to Mickey. After one iteration dies, a new body is regenerated with most of his memories intact. After six deaths, Mickey7 understands the terms of his deal... and why it was the only colonial position unfilled when he took it.

Bong is known for taking licence when he adapts previously existing fiction, but we're already excited to see him back in a science fiction world given Snowpiercer. Let's see if this one comes together. As for Pattinson, he'll be back on our screens in The Batman, due out on 4 March.
