After blasting past their original aim on Indiegogo, the Broken Lizard team announced they had started shooting comedy sequel Super Troopers 2last October. Either this is a marathon, blockbuster-level shoot, or they're just adding some extra material. And Rob Lowe is along for the ride.

With the cameras cranking again in Boston, the Lizards – Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske – have recruited Lowe to play Guy Le Franc, a former hockey player and the current mayor of a Quebec Canadian border town.

Little is known about the film's plot, other than it'll find the world's least effective highway troopers back on the job. And that's a loose term for what they'll be up to. The likes of Lynda Carter, Marisa Coughlan and Brian Cox will reprise their roles from the first movie. There's no set release date for this one, but given the additional shooting, we'd expect it to arrive next year.
