Lock up your video recorder and unplug your TV! Dreamworks has confirmed that it plans to make another Ring sequel, but this time there's no sign of Naomi Watts onboard. The first American Ring film took $129 million at the US box office in 2002 and proved that you could remake an Asian horror film without losing everything that made the original worth watching. With Naomi Watts in the lead role, and creepy kid David Dorfman as her son, the haunted-videotape formula of the original scared up a storm worldwide. The sequel brought original Japanese director Hideo Nakata back to the series, and shades of The Exorcist for good measure, but made a less stunning $75 million in the States. This second sequel is therefore going to be made to a small budget than the $60 million-odd of the first two, with Watts unlikely to return. The picture will be based around the point of view of another character who comes into contact with the cursed tape, but there's no word as yet on whether this will be a prequel or sequel proper
