Richard prances as Renee croons

Proving that strapping on the old dancing shoes and belting out a number never does your career any harm, Richard Gere has capitalised on his Chicago success by nabbing the starring role in new romantic comedy Shall We Dance? A remake of one of the most successful Japanese films of the last decade, the comedy follows a disillusioned salary man who spots a dancing school out of his commuter train window and starts ballroom lessons to impress the enigmatic dance teacher. With a high-profile actress promised in the role of the teacher, Gere will undoubtedly enjoy another chance to sweep a gorgeous woman off her feet with a quick display of his magic feet. Lucky bugger. And while Gere limbers up for another turn, fellow Chicago cohort Renee Zellweger has also been busy crooning again after her Oscar-nominated role of Roxie. Scarily stepping into the famous Abbey Road studios with Moulin Rouge warbler and co-star Ewan McGregor, Zellweger has recorded the theme song to their new flick, Down with Love, and – we are sad to declare – will release it as a single.
