Though it has been filming for a while now, Ocean's Eleven spin-off Ocean's Eight is not finished announcing cast members. The latest recruit is The Hobbit's Richard Armitage.

While we don't yet know what role the man who was Thorin Oakenshield will be playing, or whether he'll just be popping in for a quick bit of screen time, he's joining an increasingly stuffed cast.

The leads for this one include Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Rihanna and Helena Bonham Carter, with people such as rapper Awkwafina, Matt Damon and James Corden showing up. And filling the villainous role in the caper movie is Damian Lewis.

Gary Ross is directing the film, working from the script he wrote with Olivia Milch. The movie's US release date is set for 8 June next year, but there's no word on a UK slot yet. After some smaller roles in movies such as Alice Through The Looking Glass and some time in the theatre, Armitage will be back on our screens in historical drama film Pilgrimage, which should arrive this year.
