It's always nice when a news story falls into your lap, which is exactly what happened today when the production crew for Miranda descended on Empire Online's neighbourhood yesterday (17 April 2001). The FilmFour production set up shop just around the corner from our offices for a scene in a trendy London restaurant. 'It's a thriller, but also a love story,' one of the crew told us - just as the actress who plays the title role, Christina Ricci turned up. Ricci plays a con-girl who turns her charms on John Simm - an innocent librarian. The two end up falling in love - but there are apparently more plot twists and turns than a twisty-turny thing. Other cast members include John Hurt, who plays Ricci's mentor, and Kyle MacLachlan - whose character is based on Dennis Hopper's role in Blue Velvet.
