Former child actor Brad Renfro has been charged with grand theft, after he and a friend tried to steal a yacht in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Renfro, who starred in The Client, Sleepers and Apt Pupil, was in Florida to film Bully with Larry Clark, the director of Kids. At around 4 am on the night before filming was due to start, 18 year old Renfro and 24 year old Harold Bond were apprehended trying to steal a 45 foot yacht worth $175,000 from a private marina. The pair's plan was somewhat flawed, however, as they forgot to untie the boat, and it was pulled back into the dock. Renfro was released on bail, and went to work on Bully the next day. In 1998, at the age of 16, Renfro was arrested on charges of possession of cocaine and marijuana but struck a plea to undertake random drug testing and counselling. It is not known whether he was under the influence of drugs at the time of his recent arrest.
