Despite being busy producing a number of TV series, Reese Witherspoon is still finding time to develop new possible film roles. She's now working with X-Men: Dark Phoenix writer/director/producer Simon Kinberg on a project called Pyros.

Writer Thomas Pierce is adapting his short story Tardy Man (originally published in The New Yorker and lurking at this link), which follows an insurance company contractor with a protective suit fused to his spine whose job it is to go into disaster areas (such as wildfire zones) and safely extract items belonging to the wealthy clients of the Wick insurance company. They are strictly forbidden to veer from their missions, even when human lives are in danger. The main character makes a choice that... well, you can probably figure that out for yourself.

Witherspoon and Kinberg's companies are entertaining offers from studios, and with the former on board to also star, it sounds like something that a company will snap up quickly.

We'll next see Witherspoon in the Apple series The Morning Show and she's also part of miniseries Little Fires Everywhere.
