The flurry of remakes is not slowing down any time soon, especially given that it's a tradition stretching back years in Hollywood. A new one has a prospect that is rich with comedy potential: MGM is developing a remake of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, with Rebel Wilson attached to star.

You'll recall the 1988 original, which featured Steve Martin and Michael Caine as the titular con artists, though you might not know that it was itself a remake based on 1964's Bedtime Story. In this take, the story will follow two female grifters, one who is cultured, the other uncouth, who compete to swindle a naive tech prodigy out of his fortune.

This one is still bubbling away, and there's no director or other casting attached yet. But it does have a script by TiMER's Jac Schaeffer, who most recently wrote sci-fi action comedy The Shower, which has Anne Hathaway on board to star.

Wilson was last seen in How to Be Single and Grimsby, and will be back with the rest of the Pitch Perfect gang for the third movie, due in 2017.
