Thoroughly in demand and already in the frame for several big roles, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation's Rebecca Ferguson is in talks for another. She is now in the early stages of figuring out a deal to co-star with Michael Fassbender in Thomas Alfredson’s adaptation of Jo Nesbø’s **The Snowman.

The new film has a script by Matthew Michael Carnahan adapted from one of Nesbø’s bestselling series of Harry Hole novels. The Oslo cop, a boozy, fags-and-fatalism maverick in the best traditions of movie ‘tecs like Jake Gittes and Popeye Doyle, is in his early ‘40s in the books and an outsider in his own department. In the story, he’s investigating a missing persons case launched when a woman’s pink scarf is found wrapped around the neck of an ominous-looking snowman.

Fassbender was reported as considering the main role back in September, but from the looks of the report it seems he’s now signed on. Quite how Ferguson would fit in is not mentioned, but Working Title is hoping all the details can come together so Alfredson can start shooting in January.

Ferguson already has one job coming up – she’s a key part of Tate Taylor’s adaptation of The Girl On The Train alongside Emily Blunt, Haley Bennett and, if they both sign on, Chris Evans and Jared Leto. And then there’s Guernsey, adapted from Annie Barrows and Mary Ann Shaffer's book The Guernsey Literary And Potato Peel Pie Society, which at one point looked like it was going to be a Kenneth Branagh film with Kate Winslet starring but is now under the command of Mike Newell with the female lead role open. Ferguson is considering taking the part, but she might have to see how her schedule shakes out. Add to that Ridley Scott mulling her for Prometheus sequel Alien: Paradise Lost and the strong chance she could return as Ilsa Faust for the next Mission: Impossible film, which is aiming to get moving as quickly as possible.

In more concrete movie terms, Ferguson will appear alongside Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant in Florence Foster Jenkins, which has an August 2016 release date in the Netherlands but no scheduled slot for the UK just yet.
