Ready For The Starving Games?

Writer-directors Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer have yet to find a genre or hit movie they didn’t want to spoof. In their time, they have either contributed to or created the Scary Movie films, Date Movie, Epic Movie, Meet The Spartans, Disaster Movie and Vampires Suck. While many had hoped that they would just give up and go and do charity work in recompense, they’ve now set their sights on The Hunger Games with The Starving Games. Hilarious!

We realise that the pair have their fans (though a pill is being developed to treat that) and they shoot moderately low budgets with solid box office returns. But do we really need another kitchen-sink spoof full of a ragtag collection of tired pop culture references and OTT acting? The answer, apparently, is yes.

The Starving Games, the rights to which will be on sale at Cannes, will use the Suzanne Collins spoof as the skeleton for a parody of The Avengers (natch), Sherlock Holmes, the final Harry Potter and, presumably, whatever else is popular this week.

Friedberg and Seltzer are currently at work on The Biggest Movie Of All Time 3D, which is “the first parody film to be shot in 3D.” Hooray?
