Kurt Russell and The Cat in the Hat's Kelly Preston have been enlisted to join the cast of the latest evolution of superhero film, Sky High. With said genre currently enjoying a long-awaited heyday, it's never been a better time to prance around fighting crime in a fetishist jumpsuit and, similarly, films like Mean Girls (and anything else finishing Lindsay Lohan) have been drawing punters in like an all-you-can-eat buffet. Knowing that, it didn't take someone with a degree in cunning and evil genius to see that combining the two might yield an unholy offspring to capitalise on the success of both, fulfil the ancient prophesy and lead to eternal bliss for all mankind . That's the theory at any rate. Russell and Preston will play the dubiously dubbed Commander Stronghold and Josie Jetstream, parents of a mutant moppet attending the film's high school for superpowered teens - think Xavier's School for the Gifted but with, like, way more fashion sense. Orchestrated by Deuce Bigalow director Mike Mitchell, the film takes place in a world where superheroes are commonplace and feats of selfless derring-do are just part of the daily grind. Not a million miles from the Empire office, really.
