Is nothing sacred? We've just heard the news that John Huston's Oscar-winning movie The Quiet Man is being remade as a comedy with Luke Perry in the title role. The original film, which starred John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara was filmed in the west of Ireland and told the story of a Yankee ex-boxer retiring to rural Ireland where he catches the eye of feisty local gal O'Hara. Connemara Dave, according to Showbizireland.com turns the original story on its head with a local girl falling in love with the assistant director from the Quiet Man production. Perry's leading lady has not yet been found but veteran comic Norman Wisdom is one of the confirmed cast members.
