Liam Neeson is in talks to star in an adaptation of the award winning novel, Angela's Ashes. Alan Parker is to direct the movie, which tells the story of a young Irish-American boy's bid to escape from a poor and abusive family life. Neeson would play the father, a drunken Irish loafer, and Breaking The Waves star Emily Watson is also in talks to play his wife. The script has been written by Laura Jones, who has prior experience in adapting Pulitzer Prize-winning novels, having already scripted the movie versions of Jane Smiley's A Thousand Acres and The Shipping News, by E. Annie Proulx.
