Psycho Cleared for Britain

First the good news - American Psycho has passed the UK censors uncut. Now the bad news – you have to be over 18 to see it. The scene in which Patrick Bateman has sex with two prostitutes, which had to be cut to secure a 15 rating in the US, has survived uncut for Britain, where apparently an 18 certificate is not considered the commercial kiss of death that an NC-17 rating is in America. ‘We classified it 18 because of strong sex, violence and some drug taking,’ said Craig Lapper of the British Board of Film Classification, who added that the UK distributors Entertainment were happy with the decision.
