Preacher To End With Season 4

Preacher

It took showrunners as brave and bold as Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (plus Sam Catlin) to bring Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s no-holds-barred comic book series Preacher to the screen – and while Jesse Custer’s road trip in search of a missing god has admirably adapted plenty of its gonzo weirdness to live-action, it seems that unhinged on-screen journey is about to end. The show’s upcoming Season 4, which airs in August, will be its last – as confirmed by Rogen himself, who posted on Instagram: “The fourth and final season of Preacher is coming. It’s been a wild ride. Thank you all.”

While fans will undoubtedly be disappointed to hear that the show is wrapping up, it sounds like Preacher will end on its own terms – with Rogen clarifying on Twitter: “It’s not cancelled. It’s just ending.” Considering the comic run is collected into nine volumes, it remains to be seen which material makes it into the final set of episodes.

The series stars Dominic Cooper as Jesse Custer, a preacher possessed by a powerful entity called Genesis, who teams up with his ex-girlfriend Tulip O’Hare (Ruth Negga) and motor-mouthed vampire Cassidy (Joe Gilgun) on a mission to find God, who’s gone missing. Also, there’s a character called Arseface, actual Hitler pops up, and all kinds of profane stuff goes down. Based on everything that's happened so far, don't expect Preacher to go down quietly. Catch up with the series so far on Amazon Prime in the UK, and prepare for the beginning of the end this summer.
