News circulating this week that Steven Spielberg had agreed to take on Harry Potter has been somewhat premature, according to the film's casting director. Speaking today to Empire Online, casting agent Susie Figgis said that all work had been put on hold until a director for the project was confirmed. 'They're all saying that Steven has accepted the project,' said Susie, 'but I haven't been told that. We did some auditions for the major roles before Christmas, but that's all gone on hold now.' Figgis confirmed that Warner Bros are looking for British actors for the main roles and said that the auditions in December constituted part of the preliminary work on the movie. In the meantime, she's received 'boxes of mail' from budding stars, hoping to make their movie debut. Anyone hoping to be picked should send a photograph of themselves with their name, address and telephone number to: Susie Figgis 25 Fortress Road London NW5 1AD Keep an eye out next week for more news on Harry casting here at Empire Online.
