Pose’s Billy Porter Up For New Cinderella And Little Shop Of Horrors

Billy Porter

Thanks to his Emmy-winning role in Pose, Billy Porter is a man in serious demand. And he's got two potentially fun job offers now on the table. According to Variety, one is the role of the fairy godmother in Sony's new version of Cinderella.

Despite Disney's take making solid money back in 2015, Sony has been developing its more musical version of the fairytale since at least this past April, with singer Camila Cabello on to star and work on new tunes for the film. Kay Canon, who saw success with Blockers, is on to direct from her refreshed script. Porter would be a great choice for the godmother role (named in this film as the Fabulous Godfather), especially if the costume department gives his team free rein to work on his look. The film, which is now reportedly called Rebel/Dreamer: A New Type Of Cinderella, sprang from an idea by James Corden, who will be one of the producers.

And that's just one of his new chances to shine – Collider has also heard that he's the top choice to voice chatty, cannibalistic alien plant Audrey II in Little Shop Of Horrors.

Most famously brought to screens by Frank Oz in 1986, Little Shop sees nervy florist named Seymour finding his chance for romance and success with a little help from the plant... At least until Audrey II becomes bigger and more powerful. Warner Bros. announced that a new film was in the works directed by Greg Berlanti, but things have gone awfully quiet since then. Yet with the studio applying for California tax credits on the film, the signs point to production kicking into gear before too long.
