Portman Won't Hit Wuthering Heights

Natalie Portman has dropped out of John Maybury’s forthcoming adaptation of Wuthering Heights, in favour of an as-yet unannounced project.

Portman had been set to play Cathy, opposite Michael Fassbender’s Heathcliff (well, he’s in advanced negotiations) in the new version of the Emily Bronte novel, but the shooting schedule clashed with her new project, and something had to give.

Execs at Ecosse Films, the company bankrolling the movie, are determined that the start date should not be affected, and are currently mulling over replacements for Portman. Any suggestions?
