Point Break Sequel For Jan De Bont

It's either demented, or demented genius, and we're not sure which. Surf / crime / sexual tension classic Point Break is set to be sequelised, with the once so-hot-right-now Jan De Bont at the helm and no word yet on whether original stars Keanu Reeves or Patrick Swayze will return.

Yes, Point Break: Indo will be an "Asia-based" follow-up, set 20 years after Bodhi's (Swayze) disappearance during the 50 Year Storm off Bells Beach, Australia. There're no official details of the plot yet or, crucially, whether any original characters will return, but hope springs eternal. Website IESB reckons that they've seen the script, and that it's about a champion surfer / Special Forces type (called, in a bit of a step down from the first film, Billy Dalton. What, Jimmy Idaho was taken?) who is recruited to catch a gang of thieves called the Bush Administration, who have the same MO as the Ex-Presidents. Could Bohdi be back? Has Johnny Utah gone rogue and turned into his mentor? We can only hope so.

And it's written by the same guy who scripted the original, W. Peter Iliff, which might give us more great lines like, "Back off, War Child, seriously!" or the immortal "Vaya con Dios, Brah". And hopefully a moment of someone shooting his gun in the air and going "Aaaaaagh!"

The film's due to shoot in Singapore and Bali, and since we will be, like, totally keeping an eye on this one, we'll bring you more news as we get it. After all, we only live to get radical like that.

So, gnarly? Super-gnarly? Total wipeout? Or bodacious?
