Pilgrimage for Lourdes

According to a report in the Express at the weekend, Madonna has placed 2-year-old daughter Lourdes on a waiting list for Cheltenham Ladies' College. The exclusive secondary school has been around for 145 years and is known for its strict discipline. Neither Madonna nor the school has commented on the report, but the school's headmistress, Vicky Tuck (no doubt a martyr to rhyming slang in her own childhood) was happy to tell the paper, "We are experienced in educating the daughters of parents who are highly successful in their chosen profession." (Hardly surprising, at more than 20-grand a year). She went on, "We have had daughters of many parents who enjoy the limelight. The fact that we are a boarding school could be particularly appropriate, as I am sure Madonna must have a hectic life, and we would be able to provide the continuity that a young girl needs." There's every chance that she pronounced girl "gel".
