If you or someone in your life has ever undertaken any postgraduate studies, chances are you're familiar with Piled Higher and Deeper (aka PhD Comics), Jorge Cham's newspaper and web comic strip about life ("or the lack thereof") in academia. That being the case, we present Piled Higher and Deeper: The Movie**, the trailer for which is now online.

The live-action film puts flesh on characters like the perennially frazzled Cecelia, perpetual student Mike Slackenerny, multicultural activist Tajel, and The Nameless Hero, who isn't unlike Cham. It follows their travails as they negotiate massive workloads, annoying admin, exasperating supervisors, funding, financial straits, Oblomov-level procrastination and having no work/life balance whatsoever.

A truly indie production, Cham has directed it himself, and the actors are all from a theatre group at the California Institute of Technology. There's no formal distribution for the film as such (yet), but if you'd like to see it play at a campus near you, the instructions for proffering an invitation are here.
