Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. have their Man of Steel in Henry Cavill, and now the task has turned to finding some ladies to light up his life for Superman. While the search for Lois Lane has attracted a whole swathe of brunette beauties, the director and his team are also making room for a blonde to play an entirely different part. So step up Rosamund Pike, Alice Eve and Diane Kruger as possible candidates.
But candidates for which role? Warners isn’t saying, but the team over at The Playlist made a smart guess with Catherine “Cat” Jane Grant, a gossip columnist who shares the Daily Planet offices with Clark Kent and Lois, and attracts Clark’s romantic attention. At least until the lad realises that the one he truly wants is Lois. Sounds like a romantic triangle just asking to be filmed, but that for now is simply speculation, since Chris Nolan is producing the movie and hasn’t let any real details slip out just yet.
But all three actresses would bring something interesting. Pike, of course, is solid British thesping stock, and has recently been winning plaudits for her role in Barney’s Version opposite Paul Giamatti. Fellow Londoner Eve has less of a CV behind her, but brought the bombshell/girl next door style to She’s Out of My League and briefly had the part of Emma Frost in X-Men: First Class. And Diane Kruger was the face of Troy and has cropped up in everything from the National Treasure films to Inglourious Basterds. She’ll next be seen alongside Liam Neeson in Unknown.
There’s no word on who’ll snag the part, if any of them – the three are on a shortlist, but as Variety reports, the pool of possible performers is big…
