When Pedro Almodóvar teams up with regular collaborator Penélope Cruz, the result is usually something to anticipate. The advanced word on their latest reunion, Parallel Mothers has been great, and the trailer for the UK release is now online.

Almodóvar's new film finds Cruz as Janis, a middle-aged married woman who is exultant when she learns she's pregnant with her husband's child. But then she meets Ana (Milena Smit), an adolescent, who is scared and repentant upon learning of her own pregnancy. Janis tries to encourage her as they move like sleepwalkers through the hospital corridors. The few words they exchange in these hours will create a very close link between them, which by chance will develop and complicate, changing their lives in a decisive way...

With Rossy de Palma, Julieta Serrano, Aitana Sánchez-Gijón and Israel Elejalde also in the cast, Parallel Mothers arrives in the UK on 28 January next year.
