Tuning up at the whole shebang they will be, but actors Dustin Hoffman and Julianne Moore will lead a silent peace protest at the Oscar ceremony on Sunday night by wearing special peace pins to show their opposition to the war against Iraq. And they won't be alone. Jim Carrey, Ben Affleck, Michael Moore and Kirsten Dunst have also confirmed they will be sporting Artists United to Win Without War pins on their outfits, which are predicted to be less flashy than usual. According to Variety today, however, the reports of Oscar's death have been greatly exaggerated. Quashing rumours that the ceremony would be held but not televised for several days and that even the White House had phoned to ask for the postponement of the show, Academy insiders have reportedly given the event the all clear, insisting that late cancellations are a norm every year. Following on from Will Smith's official bowing out from the proceedings yesterday, Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson are the latest to be announced as no-go's while Variety reported that big names Peter Jackson and Angelina Jolie will also not attend.
