Never one to shy away from tough topics and real-life stories, Paul Greengrass has selected his next film. He's written and will direct a movie about the terrorist attack in Norway in 2011.

Greengrass film will chronicle the horrific violence inflicted by Anders Behring Breivik, a self-described right-wing Christian extremist who hated Muslims. He detonated a fertilizer bomb outside the Prime Minister's headquarters, killing eight people. After that, he donned a police uniform, took a ferry ride to a nearby island and murdered teenagers attending a Labor Party Youth Camp.

After his capture, his 1500-page manifesto was discovered, which he asked to read at his trial but was denied. Breivik was sentenced to 21 years in prison, the maximum allowed by Norwegian law.

According to Deadline, Greengrass is aiming to kick off production later this year in Norway with local actors and Netflix kicking in a $20 million budget. It's in line with the likes of his Bloody Sunday and United 93 and we'll be interested to see how he handles it. The new development does, however, mean that his planned film about Eliot Ness is on hold while he focuses on this one.
