Whenever there’s a perfect couple with an equally cute child in an indie film – in fact, most movies – you just know that things will be headed in a pear-shaped direction by the close of the first act.

So with Crank’s Amy Smart and Hard Candy’s Patrick Wilson taking on just such a seemingly perfect pair in Life In Flight, is it any surprise that problems crop up?

The plot finds an architect (Wilson) happily married to Smart. But when he meets an urban designer (Lynn Collins) he realises that his life has been built on a weak foundation (see? Architect? Designer? Foundation? Comedy gold… or maybe bronze) and has to reassess what’s important.

Tracey Hecht is making her directorial debut with the film, which she starts shooting in New York next month.
