Though he told Empire way back in 2009 that he was aiming to make a full-length version of his Thanksgiving horror trailer from Grindhouse, time and other work has since intervened for Eli Roth. But the director is now full steam ahead on the project and he has Patrick Dempsey in talks to star.

The original trailer was for a fake movie in which a slasher makes his own carving board out of the inhabitants of a Massachusetts town that makes a big annual fuss over the annual turkey day. One of the pivotal scenes involved Roth himself, separated from his head while in the throes of passion with a date in a convertible.

Dempsey will apparently play the town's sheriff when the murder spree breaks out, and will anchor the film supported by some rising stars.

Jeff Rendel fleshed the original trailer idea out into the full film version and shooting is expected to kick off next month.
