Having won acclaim for the likes of Oldboy, Sympathy For Mr Vengeance and Three… Extremes, director Park Chan-wook has recently made his English-language debut with Stoker. With work on the vampire tale complete, he has selected** The Brigands Of Rattleborge **as a possible follow-up.

S. Craig Zahler’s Western hit the Black List way back in 2006, and had been cooling its heels in development thanks to its violent content. Park’s interest means it’ll likely start moving forward again.

The plot follows a group of bandits who use a torrential thunderstorm as the ideal cover to rob a small town. What they don’t count on is a local doctor deciding to take revenge on the thieves. Nobody's plan goes smoothly and much blood is spilt. Frankly, it sounds exactly like the sort of material Park could really pull off, though according to Variety it’ll need to lock in a big name or two to get it made and sold.

Stoker, which features Nicole Kidman, Mia Wasikowska, Dermot Mulroney and Matthew Goode, is set to arrive on March 1 next year.
