Based on a Bible vs science school trial

Americans just love to argue over what should be taught in their schools – and their favourite scrap is science vs. religion.

Paramount has spotted the drama in this sort of ruckus and has set Painted Veil writer Ron Nyswaner to pen a script called Dover, based on a 2005 trial that saw a Dover, Pennsylvania school board, restricted from teaching Creationism in place of evolution.

"This story is about the place where faith intersects with science, where what we believe in intersects with what we know. This was a town that was split in half, neighbour against neighbour," Nyswaner, who lives in Pennsylvania and apparently followed the trial with interest, told Variety.

There’s no director attached yet, but expect it to be highly controversial across the Atlantic.
