Paramount is looking to stay in business with She’s Out Of My League’s director Jim Field Smith, pencilling him in as the man to wield the megaphone for new comedy **School of Horrors.

The studio picked up the original script from George Kay, who has a history with Smith (they’ve worked on shorts together and regularly collaborate) and will have the pair develop the film.

As for the pitch, Deadline has heard it can best be described as Home Alone in Hogwarts, since the plot follows a lad whose parents abandon him at a haunted school when they go on holiday. Hopefully he’ll be getting up to ghostly mischief or facing some real threats instead of learning useful lessons about himself and how life after death can help you deal with life before it.

Smith is now putting the finishing touches to the Hugh Jackman / Jennifer Garner comedy Butter and the studio is apparently looking to have him shoot Horrors next year.
