The cast for Pacific Rim 2 is slowly taking shape, with John Boyega (also on producing duties), Scott Eastwood and Cailee Spaeny announced as the three newbies ready to enter the Drift. Now another addition has been announced, with Chinese actress Jing Tian also set to take on those pesky Kaiju.

Tian has yet to make her English-language debut (she’ll feature alongside Matt Damon in The Great Wall before Kong: Skull Island), but has signed on the dotted line to take an as yet unnamed role in the sequel to Guillermo del Toro’s larger-than-life 2013 adventure.

Steven S. DeKnight is in the director’s chair this time around, with production due to start this November in Australia before moving on to China. Plot details for Pacific Rim: Maelstrom (still a working title) are, currently, unknown.

Pacific Rim 2 is due in February 2018. Until then, you better prepare yourselves for the apocalypse all over again.
