Owen Wilson May Take Admission

Since finishing up work on Robert De Niro/Paul Dano drama Being Flynn, Paul Weitz has been busy trying to set up his next project, novel adaptation Admission. Back in January 2011, it looked like Tina Fey might be getting ready to star, and while she’s still not locked in, Vulture reports that Owen Wilson is also close to jumping aboard.

Admission was adapted from Jean Hanff Korelitz’ novel and follows posh college admissions officer Portia Nathan (the part Fey was considering). When she falls for a 17-year-old prospective student with plenty of rough edges, it starts to unravel her personal, professional and romantic life.

Assuming he signs on, Wilson would play a teacher at a local high school that also falls for the fetching administrator.

Weitz has a script from Karen Croner in hand, but no solid deals are quite in place yet. Should he land both Fey and Wilson (whose career is on a healthy upswing thanks to Midnight In Paris), he’ll want to get the thing in front of cameras this June, when Fey hits hiatus from 30 Rock.
