Missing statuettes retrieved in LA

Police investigators in Los Angeles yesterday confirmed that they had found the missing Oscar statuettes which disappeared while en route from Chicago to LA last week. The 55 golden guys turned up in a dumpster in Koreatown, where they were discovered by a man looking for moving boxes. Police identified the statuettes as genuine, due to a distinctive marking, but were at a lost to explain how the Oscars turned up in the dumpster. The sheer weight of 55 Oscars would have required a fork lift truck for removal, so why anyone would go to such lengths to steal them and then dump them is anyone's guess.
