Robert Altman is to be awarded an honorary Oscar at this year's Academy Awards for his more than fifty years in the film industry.
Nominated for Best Director five times, Altman is a rarity among honorary Oscar recipients in that he still has a flourishing career. His next film, Prairie Home Companion starring Meryl Streep and Lindsay Lohan, will be released later this year and he is currently preparing to direct Neve Campbell in a London theatre producton of Arthur Miller's Resurrection Blues.
