Given how many adaptations of A Christmas Carol there have been (yes, more than just the Muppets' take), you'd think filmmakers would go looking for other stories to translate into movies and TV. But no! With Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell already attached to star in and produce, Octavia Spencer is joining the cast of Spirited.
According to Collider, Daddy's Home duo Sean Anders and John Morris have cooked up the new version, which would see Reynolds as the Scrooge substitute in what is planned as a musical for Apple TV+. Ferrell would be the Ghost of Christmas Present, who will be one of the spirits helping Reynolds to see the error of his ways, while Spencer is nearing a deal to act (and sing) as a friendly co-worker of Reynolds who helps the ghost.
Spencer has been typically busy, with Netflix's Thunder Force and Amazon's Invasion on the way, plus a planned second season of Apple's Truth Be Told.
