American director John McTiernan must be experiencing a heavy case of deja-vu if the buzz on his latest film Rollerball is to be believed. According to Aint-It-Cool, test audiences were so critical of the movie, it's been sent back to the edit suite. A similar fate befell McTiernan's last movie, The 13th Warrior, which spent two years in the can before being released. MGM insiders say that the film will be severely pruned in an effort both to raise ratings and to ensure the film gets an all-important PG-13 rating. In particular - a full frontal nude shot of Rebecca Romijn-Stamos and certain uber-violent scenes are being snipped in order to make the grade. Once expected to make its cinema debut this summer, the film has now been pushed back to Spring 2002. 'I want the time to set this up right,' commented MGM's President of theatrical marketing and distribution. 'In marketing terms, I want to do things with the film that are different than what has been done to date.'
