Northern Lass Makes Good

But is Anna Friel still searching for friends...

Following the well-trod path of The Blair Witch Project, it appears that a new UK film is embracing internet marketing in a cunning effort to promote itself. Me Without You, which opens in the UK this week, has entered into a joint promotion with Friends Reunited. So far so good. But it seems an extraordinary coincidence that the site also features a post from one of the movie's stars - Anna Friel - which she claims is a complete hoax. Friel, who was in London yesterday promoting the film with her co-stars Michelle Williams (of Dawson's Creek fame) and Trudie Styler, was shown a copy of what purports to be her entry on Friends Reunited. The site specialises in putting old schoolfriends back in touch with each other, so it's a perfect place to advertise the movie which features an intense childhood friendship. 'Well even us famous folks like to catch up with our past and I'm always going to be a northern girl at heart,' her entry for Oulder Hill Upper School in Bolton reads. 'I remember we were all hooked on Kyle MacLachlan and Twin Peaks at the time, and now I've snogged him on screen! It's amazing what can happen when you put your mind to something! Anyway, look out for the film, it's called Me Without You, its British, and if me and Kyle weren't enough for you its also got the very sexy Michelle Williams from Dawsons Creek in it.' 'Someone's totally taking the mickey,' said Friel when she read the entry out. 'It makes me sound like a right saddo. Basically, I'm asking for friends!'
