Nicole Kidman is no stranger to throwing herself into roles, and she certainly appears to have done that for her latest. Check out the first trailer for Karyn Kusama's dark new drama, Destroyer.
The film finds Kidman as LAPD detective Erin Bell who, earlier in her career, was placed undercover with a cult-like gang in the California desert. The case ended in tragedy, but when the leader of the gang remerges on to law enforcement's radar years later, she has to work her way through the surviving members to track them down, confronting the demons of her own past.
To indicate the physical toll that has taken on her, Kidman's been in the prosthetics chair again and looks suitably careworn.
With a script from Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi, the cast also includes Tatiana Maslany, Bradley Whitford and Sebastian Stan. Destroyer is targeting a 25 December release in the States. For UK audiences, it screened at the London Film Festival and will arrive in our cinemas on 25 January.
