Teen Titans Go! To The Movies

Nicolas Cage's near-miss at wearing Superman's togs has long since passed into Hollywood legend, when he came close as Tim Burton developed the unmade Superman Lives. So it seems somehow fitting that the team behind new movie spin-off Teen Titans Go! To The Movies should keep him in mind when looking for someone to cameo as Supes.

Cage is possibly the most famous Superman man in Hollywood, owning rare comics and naming his son Kal-El after the character's Kryptonian birth name. And we can certainly see how his particular energy might fit into the frenetic universe of the Teen Titans team. He's not the only cameo, either, as musician Halsey is voicing Wonder Woman (complete with Invisible Jet) and rapper Lil Yachty will be Green Lantern.

The movie promises to be as meta as the series its based on often is, with the young heroes looking to shoehorn themselves into the lucrative cinematic action. Who says everyone else gets to be in a film and not them? De facto leader Robin (Scott Menville) is determined to remedy the situation, and be seen as a star instead of a sidekick. If only they could get the hottest Hollywood film director (played by Kristen Bell) to notice them. With a few madcap ideas and a song in their heart, the Teen Titans head to Tinsel Town, certain to pull off their dream. But when the group is radically misdirected by a seriously super villain and his maniacal plan to take over the Earth, things really go awry. The team finds their friendship and their fighting spirit failing, putting the very fate of the Teen Titans themselves on the line...

Series overseers Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic wrote the script, with Horvath and Peter Rida Michail (another veteran of the show) directing. The film will be out on 3 August.
