It’s clearly the season for talented youngsters facing trouble from America’s National Security Agency. On the heels of Doug Liman’s Jumper comes news of Evan Oppenheimer’s The Speed Of Thought.

The plot focuses on Joshua Lazarus (Nick Stahl), a “scoper” with special telepathic skills. He’s been raised in an NSA foster home for gifted kids and works willingly for the government even as he is told that his abilities are a side effect of Widmann’s Disease, and that it’ll slowly drive him insane before he dies from the illness.

But then he meets a woman with similar powers (Hustle And Flow's Taryn Manning), who has them without any sign of the disease and realises that – whoops – his entire life has been a lie! Poseidon’s Mia Maestro is also starring.
