More Nicholas Sparks On The Way

Nicholas Sparks has become something of a brand in himself, pumping out novel after novel filled with romance, heartbreak, hunks and careworn ladies of every stripe, and thanks to some successful movies, Hollywood is eagerly buying up every title he cares to release. The latest to spark interest (pun not intended but sadly unavoidable) is Safe Haven**, which Relativity Media and the Twilight producing team have just won in a bidding war.

It’s not too much of a surprise – Relativity and the Temple Hill duo of Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen worked together to bring** Dear John** to the screen and that, powered by the good looks of Amanda Seyfried and Channing Tatum, brought in $110 million across the world.

Safe Haven isn’t out in bookshops yet, but apparently follows a young woman who is resistant to forming close ties with anyone thanks to a dark and tragic past. But then a series of events pushes her reluctantly into two relationships and her newly blossoming love must fight for attention with the personal demons she carries with her.

Now, we realise it’s probably too late to change the book’s manuscript, but if they were real, tooth-and-claw demons, we think Sparks would be able to flog even more copies. But that’s just us.

Right now, Warner Bros. has Sparks’ The Lucky One getting set to shoot later in the year and with Zac Efron considering the lead role. Relativity, however, plans to distribute Safe Haven on its own, as soon as a script can be written and a star or two found.
