Walden Media, the company behind Narnia, has found what it hopes will be its next big fantasy trilogy.

Isabel Allende’s Alexander Cold trilogy features young adventurer Alexander Cold. In the first book, City Of Beasts, the 15-year-old is packed off for a summer with his eccentric archaeologist grandmother, who is busy researching an Amazon Yeti in the rain forest. While on an expedition, they’re kidnapped by “People Of The Mist” and taken to the legendary city of El Dorado, where they meet the eponymous beasts.

Barrie Osborne, producer of The Lord Of The Rings is handling production duties. No writer, director or cast are attached yet. If the film is successful, expect follow-ups Kingdom Of The Golden Dragon and Forest Of The Pygmies to go into production.
