You've got to respect the approach that's being taken with Paul Thomas Anderson's There Will Be Blood. The new trailer here makes no effort to dress it up as some kind of multiplex friendly blockbuster for the masses. It portrays it as just what it is: a sombre, elegaic, thoughtful movie that's not for everyone, but will be adored by some. The trailer fits exactly the same mold. Not a whole lot happens, but it drips class.

Based on Upton Sinclair's novel Oil!, There Will Be Blood is set against a petrol boom in California at the turn of the century. Day Lewis is Daniel Plainview, a man who's built himself into a huge oil magnate and heads to a small town which he's informed is situated on an underground ocean of oil. There he enters into a conflict with the highly religious population of the town. See, not exactly Michael Bay in the action stakes, but something everyone can imagine Anderson doing interesting things with.

There Will Be Blood marks Day Lewis's first film in two years and Anderson's first in five. So, it's kind of a big deal.
