New Werner Herzog Trailer Online

It's always the way: you wait ages for a Werner Herzog film and then two come along at once. Bad Lieutenant: Port of New Orleans is nearing release, but also premiering at the Toronto Film Festival this year will be My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done from the same director and produced by David Lynch. And now the trailer's online{ =nofollow}.

The film stars Michael Shannon as Brad McCullum, who stabs his mother through the chest with an antique sword. It's based on the true story of Mark Yavorsky, but the script took the basic facts and then ran with them, Herzog telling the San Diego Union Tribune that the script is "about 70%" false.

From the looks of this trailer, this will be as dark and as complex as Herzog usually is, but with perhaps more matricide than usual. There's no UK or confirmed US release date yet, so for now your best chance of seeing this is in Toronto.
