The trailer for The Happening that appeared online earlier this month was apparently not meant to be seen and was quickly removed by 20th Century Fox. A new, and very different, trailer has now appeared at Cineplex, here. We believe this is the official trailer.
This one has a lot more story than the previous teaser and dismisses most of the reservations we had. Mark Wahlberg plays a man who learns of something causing death across the country and wants to get his family the hell away from it, naturally.
We really like how the disaster is immediately reported as the work of terrorists and how it shows misinformation spreading like wildfire as soon as something goes wrong. It looks like this will be as much a comment on media hysteria as it will be a thriller. Most importantly, it looks like it could be damn scary.
Shyamalan back to his best? We hope so.
