Though UK aficionados of Guillermo del Toro's work will have to be patient and wait for February to see his latest film, The Shape Of Water, US audiences have already been enjoying it, and the drama has picked up several awards. The latest trailer is now online.

Water is an otherworldly tale that is set against the paranoid backdrop of 1960s America. In the hidden high-security government laboratory where she works, lonely Elisa (Sally Hawkins) is trapped in a life of silence and isolation, looked down upon because she's mute. Elisa’s life is changed forever when she and co-worker Zelda (Octavia Spencer) discover a secret classified discovery, a creature of the water (played by del Toro regular and effects suit expert, Doug Jones).

Realising how the watery mer-man is being treated (especially by the authoritarian Strickland, played by Michael Shannon), she resolves to help him, aided by Zelda and her friend and neighbour Giles (Richard Jenkins).

The Shape Of Water surfaces in UK cinemas on 16 February.
