Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2

Those Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles returned to our screens back in 2014, aiming to scoop up a new generation of fans. While that one worked with audiences, 2016's sequel Out Of The Shadows earned a fair chunk less at the box office, and neither were what you would call critically loved. Still, Paramount has thrown a third film into development, hiring writer Andrew Dodge to start cranking out a script.

Dodge, who crafted the screenplay for Jason Bateman's Bad Words, will be the latest to tackle the four pizza-guzzling heroes in a half-shell, trained in ninjutsu and sworn to protect New York City from various enemies. Nothing is yet known about what the story will be for the new film, but Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller are all back to produce via their Platinum Dunes company, as new Paramount chairman Jim Gianopulos focuses on established franchises.

Created in the 1980s by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, the Turtles have fuelled two big pop culture waves, launching comics, animated series and an earlier movie franchise between 1990 and 1993.
