It includes secure locks and a place for your Brolin’s favourite toy… Sorry, we’re being told that this is actually the first poster for Spike Lee’s ambitious, intriguing remake of Park Chan-Wook’s 2004 film Oldboy.
This is actually the second promotional image (after this more traditional tease) for Lee’s take on the Manga, which Westernises the story of a man imprisoned for reasons he can’t fathom, locked away for years and then just as mysteriously released to seek vengeance against those he thinks are responsible. Who is telling the truth? And who will survive?
According to the gang at Collider, the new poster’s image features an actual shot from the movie, not a clever composite, so Lee definitely has our attention.
Oldboy co-stars Samuel L Jackson, Elizabeth Olsen, Sharlto Copley, Michael Imperioli and Lance Reddick. Olsen talked about the film on the Empire Podcast, and you can hear that interview below. The movie will be out on December 6.
