We've seen one behind-the-scenes shot so far, but now Sony is debuting, via IGN, the first official look at Tom Hardy in Venom. See Hardy as Eddie Brock below.
The film, which finally entered production with Ruben Fleischer at the helm after years of rumours and potential directors/stars, finds Hardy as reporter Brock, a man who has merged with the titular alien symbiote. Long an antagonist for Spider-Man, the movie's story will channel two comicbook titles – David Michelinie, Mark Bagley, Ron Lim and Sam Delarosa's Venom: Lethal Protector and Michelinie's 1995 title Planet Of The Symbiotes – which turned the character into more of an anti-hero. Brock moves to San Francisco, where he battles other offspring of the symbiote and tackles a potential invasion.
Hardy and Fleischer offered a tiny peek at the sets for the movie in a presentation shot for the Brazil Comic-Con in December.
Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed and Jenny Slate also feature in the film, which will be out in the UK on 5 October this year.
